Public officials involved in finance management across the Federated States of Micronesia gathered at the end of June for the Government’s annual finance conference.
FreeBalance Project Manager Rajesh Bhandari joined the conference to support a presentation on the forthcoming transformation of the Government’s PFM approach, and the implementation of a new cloud-based financial management information system (FMIS).
The FreeBalance Accountability SuiteTM will act as a unified government technology platform for effective preparation and execution of the country’s budget, and management of bank, treasury, payroll, personnel, assets and inventory, and project and grant funding. An expected outcome of the new system is increased public trust, as citizens will have easier access to information on how public funds are used.
Opening the conference, T.H. Vice President Palik remarked: “the Simina-Palik administration is committed to reforming and strengthening public finance. We are focused on strengthening our institutions and processes at the national level that align budgets with policy priorities, delivering quality public services efficiently and affordably.”
